Mum and Baby Yoga

Mum and Baby Yoga is tailored to suit the needs of women who have recently given birth and their babies. The class is suitable to begin after your six week check up, or after ten weeks if you have had a c-section.

In Mum and Baby Yoga class we focus on postures that help restore core and pelvic floor health, strengthen and stabilise the pelvis, relieve low and upper back aches and pains and generally increase strength, stamina, energy and fitness. Also included are breathing and relaxation exercises that help new mums switch off and relieve stress.

Most poses can be done on your own or can include your baby. I also include gentle fun baby yoga stretches, songs and rhymes that will delight and excite your baby.

As well as doing yoga and bonding with your baby, you will have the chance to meet and chat with other new Mums in your area who completely understand the challenges of the journey you are on. We have a coffee shop on site and many Mums stay back each week for a coffee and a chat. I find that the women in these classes provide a fantastic support network for each other and often firm friendships are formed. I feel so lucky to be able to facilitate these interactions.

Mum and Baby Yoga classes are completely baby-led. This means you can feed, change and soothe your baby throughout the class as needed. Babies sometimes cry and make noise in this class and that is perfectly normal and acceptable, so don’t worry if your baby is a little unsettled, you and your baby are always welcome.

Regular location is St. Fintans Parish Centre, Sutton, Dublin 13
