Park Yoga Fr Collins Park, Clongriffin - Summer 2025

Outdoor Yoga classes in Fr Collins Park, Clongriffin, throughout the summer months.

Now in its fifth year, Park Yoga in Fr Collins Park has become a much-loved summer tradition. What began during the lockdowns, when indoor classes had to pause, quickly grew into a beautiful and energising way to practise yoga together – outdoors, in community, and in connection with nature. It was such a joy that I decided to keep it going every summer.

Why Practice Yoga Outdoors?

Practising yoga outdoors brings a different energy than the studio – open skies, fresh air, and a sense of freedom and expansion that you can really feel in your body and mind. Some of the unique benefits include:

  • Natural Vitamin D: Soak up the sunshine while you move and breathe.

  • Grounding Through Barefoot Practice: Feel the grass beneath your feet, or even practise without a mat if the ground is dry. Studies show that direct contact with the earth (also known as “earthing”) can help reduce inflammation, improve sleep, and support cardiovascular health.

  • Nature’s Soundtrack: Birds singing, leaves rustling, children playing in the distance – it’s a far cry from studio playlists, and deeply soothing.

  • Deepened Connection to Your Surroundings: Practising in nature helps you feel more grounded, present, and calm.

  • Enhanced Balance: The slightly uneven ground offers a subtle challenge that helps improve stability and coordination.

  • Room to Breathe: No packed studio – enjoy as much space as you like under the open sky.

What to Bring:

  • A yoga mat or large towel (if the grass is dry, feel free to practise without it – if it’s damp, a mat or towel is recommended)

  • Layers – Irish weather can change quickly, so come prepared! You’ll likely warm up during the class and want something cosy for relaxation at the end

  • An open mind and a sense of adventure

Weather Policy:

Classes will go ahead in light rain or breezy conditions – just dress appropriately and enjoy the fresh air!
In the event of heavy rain or extreme weather, the class will be cancelled and a full refund will be issued.

Whether you’re brand new to yoga or an experienced practitioner, Park Yoga offers something special – a chance to move, breathe, and reconnect with yourself in the beauty of the outdoors. I’d love to see you there.

Park Yoga

Join me for the 4th year of ‘Park Yoga’ in Fr Collins Park. Every Saturday morning from 27th May 2023 right through to the end of August. The classes are from 1030-1130am and cost €10 each.

I started this class when we were forced to shut down all indoor classes during the lockdowns. It was so lovely and popular that I decided to keep going every Summer.

There are so many great reasons to come and practice yoga outdoors in the park with us this year….

    1) Top up on your vitamin D
    2) Feel the grass on your bare feet as you practice – you can even choose to ditch the yoga mat for added benefits – many studies show that contact between the earth and your body as a whole host of benefits like heart health, reduction of tension and improved sleep!
    3) Enjoy the sounds of nature – No music can compare to the gorgeous sounds of the birds singing and the distant sounds of kids laughing while practicing yoga in the park.
    4) Connect with your surroundings and get grounded
    5) The uneven terrain adds a challenge you just don’t get on the smooth studio floor. Especially good for building better balance
    6) No competition for floor space – you can have as much space as you want when you are outdoors!

In the event of adverse weather conditions like heavy rain – the class will be cancelled and a full refund will be given. However we won’t let a bit of cloud or wind stop us. You don’t need a perfect balmy 20 degree day to enjoy out door yoga I assure you. Just make sure you wear layers and they you can take then off as you begin to warm up and put them back on for final relaxation.

This is a mixed level class suitable for everyone from the complete beginner to the seasoned practitioner.

You will need to bring your own yoga mat or large towel (if the grass is dry feel free to practice without it but if it is wet or dewy you will need one).

Every Saturday morning throughout the summer months from 28th May 2022.
