The word Yoga means to ‘yolk’ or ‘bind’. Hatha Yoga refers to a set of physical exercises known as postures or asanas. These postures are designed to unblock energy channels in the body and let energy flow freely. Hatha Yoga is a powerful tool for physical and mental transformation. It is different from other forms of exercise because the movements in the body are connected to the breath and this in turn helps to quieten the fluctuations of the mind. It then becomes like a moving meditation.

There are many different styles of Hatha yoga. This class has a flowing style with a faster pace then many gentler classes but we spend more time holding and exploring each pose then some of the faster styles. There is a very strong emphasis on safety and alignment. The class also includes breathing techniques and deep relaxation.

This class is mixed levels and beginners are welcome. Poses can be modified to offer less/more challenge as needed.
