About Me

I have been  a qualified and yoga teacher since 2007 graduating from a 500 hour YTTC (Yoga Alliance) teaching diploma. I taught part-time for 5 years while continuing in my TV production career and in 2012 set up Stretch It Yoga.

I was born with Klippel–Feil Syndrome, a rare syndrome characterized by the congenital fusion of two of the cervical vertebrae. This resulted in poor range of movement of the neck, bad posture, shortness of breath and neck and back aches throughout my life. A sedentary unhealthy lifestyle wasn’t helping.

On the advice of a friend, in my early 20’s, I began taking a regular yoga class. I was hooked from the very first class. Over the next couple of years I began to develop a regular yoga practice at home and attended many classes and workshops with many wonderful teachers. Over time pain and other symptoms improved dramatically. As a result of my dedicated yoga practice, I have managed to stay off long term pain medication, which is the usual route for my condition. Yoga gave me the tools and the discipline I needed to self-manage my symptoms and taught me how to accept myself as I am.

In 2013 I completed the Trust in Birth prenatal yoga teacher training with The Elbowroom while pregnant. My waters broke the day I finished my practical exam! Yoga helped me enormously throughout my pregnancy and birth. When my daughter Isabelle was three months old, I decided to embark on the International Association of Infant Massage (IAIM) baby massage teacher training course. I massaged Isabelle daily and found that baby massage relaxed both of us and helped her sleep better. After I completed my Baby Massage training I also trained to teach Mum and Baby Yoga. In 2015 I began teaching yoga to Adults with special needs in St Micheals House.

Yoga is my life passion. I believe yoga can help everyone feel better no matter what age, weight or level of fitness they are at. Its just a matter of finding the right class for you and developing a regular practice. Yoga is particularly helpful in pregnancy and post-natally and I feel very privileged to work with and support women during this special time in their lives.

As a direct result of my own experience, I am particularly interested in enabling those living with pain or discomfort to manage their symptoms with yoga asanas (postures) and mindfulness/relaxation techniques. I am keenly aware of the fact that no two bodies are the same and there is no once size fits all approach that works for everyone. As a result I encourage all my students to be their own best teacher and to truly listen to their body and practice yoga in a way that is non-competitive, both with others in the class and with their own ego. I am committed to helping others experience the healing effects of yoga just as I do every day.

Yoga teaches us to cure what cannot be endured and endure what cannot be cured
